One Year Portraits by Flip Flop Foto

Turning One is So Much Fun!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LILY!

I can't believe our sweet girl is already over a year old! Time really does fly like they say it does. She is such a sweet-hearted child and is almost always happy and playful. She is crawling all over creation and into anything and everything. She is standing up and cruising around but not quite ready to walk. She talks all.the.time. and is saying alot of words, new ones every day. She LOVES the dogs, and we think the feeling mutual only a small percentage of the time. Those poor pooches give us looks as if to say "Seriously? I didn't sign up for this." They're good sports. I am looking forward to the sunny weather coming to spend more time outside with her :)

I haven't had much spare time lately, so the blog is very outdated-- as usual. Here are a few pictures from Lily's First Birthday to keep from getting too far behind. (Even if it was almost two months ago...)

Lily's beautiful Birthday Cake! Thanks, Haley!

Not too sure about this...

Hmmm.... not so bad!

Lily's First Christmas

Now that it is nearly March, I decided it was (past) time to get the blog updated. Here are just a few pictures of Lily's First Christmas. This is one of the pictures I took for the Christmas card. She did great but fell out of the chair (twice), thanks to Mom-of-the-Year over here... It was the camera's fault, the "incidents" happened while I was trying to figure out the right settings... That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Had to get a family pic for her first Christmas (so what if this was taken after Christmas?)
Checking out the tree with Dad. One of her FAVORITE things! She loved going around the house first thing in the morning to turn the lights on the tree and all the garlands. :) Each time her mouth just fell open with amazement. Warmed my heart every time. As you can imagine, it was really hard for me to take the tree down this year, knowing we would miss out on those sweet morning moments.

Christmas Pic with Nanna and Poppy!

Finally decided we were NOT afraid of Tickle Me Elmo! This girl LOVES.HER.SOME.ELMO.

Quarterly Report

At least that's how often it seems like I get around to updating. She is napping right now so I will include as many details as time allows...
We'll start with Halloween and go backwards, since that's how the pics uploaded.
Checking out the pumpkins...
Ok, enough of this!

Having a blast on Dad's shoulders, which is still hilarious to her! We don't know what she thinks is so funny about it, maybe his beard tickles her little legs?

About 8 months old.

Little Stinker!

The Chef and the Lobster

"Get me outta this pot, please!"

Trying on her costume for the first time. Didn't hate it.

"Pretty cute, huh Mom?"

In other news....

We have learned to use a Blackberry.

We still LOVE bathtime!

...and faking smiles for the camera.

She is fascinated with mirrors, and lately has been waving at herself in the mirror.
We also have a little mirror that was on her activity mat, and she pulls it to her face and kisses it when we tell her to "love the baby".

Confessions of an Inconsistent Blogger

YES, I realize it has been more than two months since my last blog post. I also realize that anyone who cares about reading my blog know me well enough to know I have kind of alot going on right now, what with a baby, a business, a husband, two crazy dogs, a house to attempt to keep presentably clean, and a partridge in a pear tree... my cup & my plate runneth over! Not to mention that I am pretty ADD that alot of things I do are somewhat inconsistent. Also, it seems the longer I go without blogging the more daunting it becomes.
Needless to say, alot has been going on this summer. We've been having a great time with little Lily, who is growing so much and becoming more fun every single day as she becomes a little less of an infant and more of a person. A real-live person! It is amazing. At her 4 month Dr. visit (that we actually got around to at 4 1/2 months) she weighed in at a *whopping* 12 lbs 3 oz and was something like 23 in long, keeping her 15th percentile. This has earned her the nickname "Midget" amongst many others including, (but not limited to) the Pooks, Pookster, Pooksatawney Lil, Pooks a Million, the Lil, Peepy, and many more to come I am sure! New developments include eating solid foods from a spoon (pics to follow) and squealing to the top of her lungs which she thinks absolutely hysterical! (OK, so what if she's right?) It is pretty funny, I'll post a video if I can figure it out later. Until then, here are some recent pics:
Feeling very patriotic on the Fourth of July

The 4th was a monumental day for Lily (pun intended) -- her first REAL food (as in NOT rice cereal). APPLES- Which proved an early favorite. We've since added green beans, sweet potatoes, pears, squash, and carrots to our rotating menu. So far, Lily hasn't met a food she doesn't like! I'm really glad she isn't a picky eater. She can be a little particular at times, but is overall a very sweet and easy-going kid. We are so blessed!

Our little lady is quite taken by her tootsies these days. Which is especially convenient on those early mornings (as in before 6) when I bring her back to bed with me to steal a few more zzzzz's and I can't find a paci. A quick unsnapping of the footed jammies and there ya have it *POOF* instant pacifier. The only good example of an "open mouth, insert foot" situation I can think of.

Lily's first trip with Nanna and Poppy to Orange Beach.
Every time Poppy took her in the pool she fell fast asleep!

Of course we had to have a mini-photo shoot to document her first beach trip. But we couldn't keep her hands out of her mouth for most of it.

STINKER!

little angel

That's all for today, I will promise to try to be better! :) But you know what they say about good intentions...

Our Easter with Lily

Sleeepy Bunny....

All that egg hunting makes a girl tired!

Dad, Mom, & Lily

Dad, Mom, & Bunny

Lily was SIX WEEKS OLD the day before Easter! We decided she was still too young and volatile to try to take her to church, so we went out to Kiesel Park to take some pictures with Lily and her grandparents.
Lily with John's parents, her Papa and Gigi.

Lily with my parents, her Poppy and Nanna.

The Easter Bunny brought all kinds of fun goodies!

"I was just hanging out in my swing on a lazy Easter afternoon when Mom and Dad whipped out the camera and started making silly faces! Then all of a sudden...."

"I gave them a HUGE gummy grin! A few, actually!" This was the first of many! What a perfectly sweet way to end our first Easter as a family of three.
